What is there
Precinct 3 describes it as a preserve "along Spring Creek, featuring a playground, restrooms, trails, swamps, and a Nature Center", with "diverse wildlife, beaches, swamps, and forests".2
The county marks these features on the park's own page: Bicycle Trail, Canoe Access, Fishing, Horseback Riding, Interpretive Exhibit, Picnic Area, Playground, Restrooms, Shelter, and Trailhead/Hiking.2
Two built attractions sit inside the preserve. They are the Redbud Hill Homestead and the Akokisa Indian Village, and there is an audio tour.2 "Free educational programs are supported by park volunteers."2
Before you go
Dogs are restricted. "Pets are only permitted on the Jones-Bender Trail, Judy Bell Trail, and Spring Creek Greenway."2 The rest of the preserve is closed to them.
Eight of the sixteen trail miles are described as accessible; the rest are unpaved paths.2
The county page gives two different sizes
The Precinct 3 page lists "323 Acres" under park features, then calls the place "a 312-acre Precinct 3 preserve" a few lines below.2 Both numbers are on the same page. This site uses 323, the figure printed under park features.
How it compares to the city parks
Nothing inside the city park system near here is comparable in size. The four City of Humble parks together cover about 32 acres by the figures the city publishes. That is over four at Hirsch, 24 at Schott, more than half an acre at Uptown, and three at Timberwood.3456 Jesse H. Jones is ten times that on its own.
