Schott Park
Schott Park is the closest city park outside the neighborhood and it sits next to the Humble Civic Center. It is the one park near here with a pavilion the city rents out.
| Where | "8510 Will Clayton Drive", "Just east of the Humble Civic Cente[r]"1 |
|---|---|
| Hours | "8:00 AM til Dark"1 |
| Size | "24 acres of land with nearly two miles of trails"1 |
| Opened | "Established in 1986"1 |
| Run by | City of Humble Public Works, 281-446-23272 |
| Drive from Timberwood | About 2.2 miles, 5 minutes3 |
What is there
"Open-air pavilion", "Picnic shelters", "Playground equipment", "1 half-court basketball area", "1 ¾ mile walking path", "Public restrooms".1 The city also names a "shaded gazebo, picnic tables, and basketball court" in its description.1
At 24 acres it is the largest of the four city parks. The walking path is why most people from Timberwood drive to it rather than to Hirsch.
Renting the pavilion
The pavilion is the Hilton C. Schott Pavilion and you reserve it through the city's Building and Inspection Department rather than through Parks.1
The city's instruction: "Review a copy of 'Rules For Hilton C. Schott Pavilion' and/or complete and submit an application for the pavilion rental through the building department's Permit Portal", and "Applications must be submitted electronically through the link."1
The city publishes no fee on that page. Whether the rental costs anything and how far ahead it books are both still open.
Still open
- What the pavilion costs, and how far ahead it books
- Whether the 1 ¾ mile path is paved the whole way
- Whether the park is lit after dark, since it closes at dark
