About
How Services works
Services is the neighborhood's contractor list.
What an entry tells you
Every entry answers the same four questions. What the work was, roughly when it happened, roughly what it cost, and whether the neighbor would use that company again. An entry reads like this:
Pheasant Run. Roof replaced, March 2025. $14,200. Would use again.
One page per company
Each company appears once. When a second neighbor has used them their entry is added to the same page instead of starting a second listing, so every job done by one company is in one place.
A neighbor who runs a business
A business cannot add itself here, and it cannot write to an admin either. Messages to an admin only come from members, and a member is somebody who lives in Timberwood. A company that works here but lives somewhere else has no account and no way to get one.
So it goes through a neighbor. Someone who lives here and has used them adds the receipt, or a member asks an admin to add the listing. Those listings start with nothing under them, because nobody has hired them through this list yet, and the page says so plainly until somebody does.
Fixing a listing works the same way. If the phone number is wrong, or the trade is wrong, or the company should not be on the list at all, a neighbor puts that in the suggestion box on the page. Nobody at the company can do it. If no neighbor brings it up, the listing does not change.
Read that for what it is. An entry with receipts under it is neighbors telling you what happened. An entry with none is a phone number and a trade, and no more than that.
If you would rather offer what you do yourself, without a business behind it, that is a notice and not a listing. See how Notices works.
The rules
- Only members can add an entry and only about work done at their own house.
- Businesses do not add themselves, and they cannot write in. A neighbor asks on their behalf, and the listing carries no receipts until a neighbor adds one.
- Placement is not for sale. The order comes from how many neighbors have used a company.
- Prices are rough and they go out of date.

Members can suggest a change. The pages marked needs a neighbor are the ones where somebody who lives here is the only source there is.
