About
How Notices works
Notices is for the things that only matter for a short time: a garage sale, a found dog, word that the water is off. The Record is the other half of the site, and it holds the answers that stay true.
Every notice has a type
Every notice is filed under one of six types, and the type sets how long it stays up.
| Type | Stays on the board |
|---|---|
| Garage sale | 10 days |
| Free to a neighbor | 7 days |
| Utility or road work | 14 days |
| Heads up | 21 days |
| Recommendation wanted | 30 days |
| Lost or found | 45 days |
Notices come down on their own
At the end of that run, a notice drops off the board and moves into the archive. Nothing is deleted, and the archive can be searched.
Everything is reviewed first
A notice does not appear on the board until an admin approves it.
Photos
You can add up to three photos per notice. They are made smaller in your browser before they are sent.
Getting told about new notices
You can pick the types you want to hear about. Email is not switched on yet, and your picks are saved for when it is.
What does not belong here
Politics, crime and suspicious-person posts, and arguments that name a neighbor. See house rules.
